The "Friends of the Mighty Mo" network is comprised of contributors who made a financial contribution to help achieve the MISSION of the Battleship Missouri Memorial. Some are members, others sponsors or general donors. Many of our friends have been with us since the ship arrived in Pearl Harbor in 1998 ... while others may only have recently joined! In all cases we appreciate the support and aim for our mission to benefit the next generation.
To create and maintain a fitting memorial to the people and historic events that reflect our nation's legacy of duty, honor, strength, resolve, and sacrifice.
To insure achievement of the mission, the day-to-day operation of the Battleship Missouri Memorial aims to connect the activities, programs, and initiatives of each department to one or more of four mission focused areas:
The Need Being Served |
Share with visitors, students, and guests meaningful national history, facts, and technology that connects them to a legacy of inspirational values |
Maintain theTreasure |
Preserve and maintain the ship and original crew members who bring the importance of the vessel "to life" |
Engage the Community |
Provide a unique, public venue connected to our nation's legacy to offer meaningful public events & a location for special ceremonies |
Build a Legacy |
Establish systems, expertise, and goals to transition a valued mission & operation to the next generation |
In the past, requirements to maintain the ship facilties was the automatic priority for contribution revenue. Over the past ten years, our operation have grown to include specific programs that also achieve our mission. To learn more about our Programs, visit a summary list of How Funds are Used.
