The U.S.S. Missouri Memorial Association (UMMA) is the designated 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Fundraising ideas and activities that support the mission of UMMA are guided by the Development Department. We follow the Association of Fundraising Professionals Standards & Code of Ethics and the Donor Bill of Rights to design and implement our giving programs.
UMMA accepts and processes gifts and recognition that is outlined in the UMMA Gift Policy manual. Our gift policies help insure the proper identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of supporters that are acceptable and focused on achieving the mission of the organization.
The UMMA gift and fundraising activities are organized in three specific areas. Please contact our office for the latest information brochure and packet:

General Donations Program
Our gift policy outlines the types of gifts and in-kind gifts
Membership Program
Our “Friends of the Mighty Mo” Membership Program is our most popular program which provides annual recognition and updates from the Battleship Missouri. Currently there are three member types: Individual ($40), Family ($75), and Organization ($200). Members are recognized in categories based on their total annual giving. Each quarter we update the membership categories & benefits Strom vergleich tarif on gifts that come in throughout the year. This allows each member to immediately take advantage of the appropriate membership benefits.
Member benefits include:
Event Sponsorship
Our annual calendar of events provides the perfect venue to showcase a sponsor. We invite membership & major gift supporters to attend activities on our special event calendar, such as Member Appreciation Day and Veteran’s Day Ceremony.
Special Gifts Program
We assist supporters, both individuals and groups, who desire to make a special or significant gift to the organization. Naming Opportunities, personal interest areas, and tribute gifts on behalf of veterans are examples of special gifts made to UMMA.
In-kind Gift Program
The UMMA gift policy outlines “in-kind” gift acceptance. Although the generosity of supporters is always appreciated, some in-kind gifts may not meet the ship or programs environmental or operational requirements. We invite you to contact us to offer in-kind items for consideration and look forward responding to the offer in a timely manner.
Grant Program
We have ongoing local and national grants that support the mission of the USS Battleship Missouri. Grants focus on education, preservation, legacy, and outreach activities that are part of the current ship operations.
Capital & Special Campaign Program
We are in the process of determining the funding priorities for a future capital campaign, such as the need to dry dock the ship or replace the teak deck.
Bequest
A bequest is when a supporter makes a charitable gift to UMMA by naming UMMA as a beneficiary in their will. In general there are three ways donors make bequests:
Life Income Gift
In this case a donor irrevocably transfers some assets to UMMA now, and in return, the donor (and a survivor, if they wish) receives income for life. An example of a life income gift is called a Charitable Gift Annuity.
In exchange for your gift of cash or marketable securities, the nonprofit agrees to pay the donor (and a survivor or other beneficiary) a fixed amount annually for your lifetime. The transfer is part gift and part purchase of an annuity. The rate of return is attractive and the payments are guaranteed for life.
Gift of Life Insurance
Life Insurance is another gift some donors give when they find they no longer need their life insurance coverage that was purchased years ago to provide for children or other family members. The donor is allowed to claim a charitable deduction for approximately the policy's cash surrender value, and the proceeds are completely removed from their estate.
