Meet the Membership Card Holder of the Battleship Missouri Memorial

Alexander “Sandy” Gaston carries the honor of owning the first membership card of the "Friends of the Mighty" Membership Program.  The honor was bestowed on Mr. Gaston, an avid supporter of the Battleship Missouri, as he gifted the organization with the first $100,000 individual pledge which created the fundraising momentum that set the foundation for success of the 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. “Sandy is really cared about by everyone. He has been the most enthusiastic supporter and has offered a multitude of ideas covering all areas of the ship, especially ways to volunteer,” shares Vicki Lancaster. “When we first started, we had to use borrowed computers, but Sandy’s gift provided a way for us to own one.”  The Battleship Missouri Memorial is appreciative of all members and looks forward to celebrating unique stories of support as examples of how even one person can make a significant difference to insure our mission:  to create and maintain a fitting memorial for the people and historic events that reflect our nation's legacy of duty, honor, strength, sacrifice and resolve.
