Maintaining a memorable experience is enhansed by the servicing of disability accesss lifts, walkway replacements, and signage.
School Field Trips. The Mighty Mo is a tremendous venue for students to explore over six decades of history. Students will experience what life was like for thousands of sailors and marines, as well as standing on the Surrender Deck, the official site of the end of WWII. Quickly our mission values of duty, honor, strength, sacrafice and resolve are realized in exposure to real people and venues on the ship.
Overnight Education Experiences. The Overnight Encampment program offers four types of curriculum: history, health, STEM (science, tech, engineering, math), and music to engage the aspirations of students. Contributions ensure service learning, scouting, service, and social groups as well as schools have a unique educational venue. Children receive an unforgettable experience on board the ship such as sleeping in bunks in the crew’s quarters and visiting areas normally off limits to our daily visitors.
Military Service Ceremonies. The Mighty Mo is a popular venue for reenlistment, retirement, commission and promotion ceremonies. There is no cost to the participants.
Mission Focused Partners. Several venues aboard the Battleship Missiouri Memorial offer our program partners an opportunity to bring the mission to life! The Sea Cadet program, and the CPO Academy program are examples of officially hosted groups by a UMMA department and are examples of how successful programs can work together to synergize expertise, resources, and a commitment to similar missions.
School Band Public Presentation Venue. The Memorial is a great location for all forms of school performances. From Marching, Jazz, and Swing bands to orchestras and choirs, the student performances always enhance the ship’s visitor experience, especially for the veterans and their families.
