In-Kind Donation Program

The Battleship Missouri is a priceless part of Hawaii’s history and culture. It presents an invaluable opportunity to educate all Hawaii youth, residents and visitors. Sometimes visitors or vendors see a particular way to support the MightyMo through an in-kind gift item or through a personal service.  If you or your business or association are considering an in-kind donation, the following process is in place to determine the scope of the in-kind gift, the proper approval before items are gifted, and provides time to prepare space and staff before the gift arrives.

Process for Accepting In-kind Donations

In-kind contributions are a special type of gift to the organization. In some cases, we will not be able to accept a specific in-kind contribution because it conflicts with our mission and plans. In-kind donations include goods or services provided free or at a reduced cost. In some cases, we may not be able to accept the donation due to restrictions on space, environmental requirements or fundraising priority restrictions. We must ensure approval on the in-kind gift before accepting most items.  Several changes to recent nonprofit donation law may effect you, your business or the Battleship Missouri.

To start the process, simply fill out the in-kind contribution form and send it to us.  Please note, we can not define the in-kind gift value --- the must determine this per requirements by the IRS.

To assist, simply send us the form:  Download our In-Kind Contribution Form

By completing our form, we will be able to work with you to determine any tax benefits and define the delivery of the item(s). Upon acceptance and delivery of your in-kind gift, we will process a “thank you” letter and receipt within 10 days.

If your time is a curatorial item related to the ship, The Battleship Missouri Memorial also collects artifacts and archival materials directly related to the construction or service of the USS Missouri (BB-63). Objects and archival materials are added to the collection through donation. If you have something you would like to donate, please contact the ship’s Curator and we would be glad to consider it: e-mail curator@ussmissouri.org  with a description and photo of the item, and as much background information as you can provide
